Challenge and Solution
The Objective: Koodoo wanted to bring their team together for a summer business retreat which combined time spent in productive meetings with a number of experiences that everyone could genuinely enjoy. Instead of opting for conventional team-building activities, they wanted to focus on creating an itinerary that would be relaxed, natural and social. They wanted a location that offered the group privacy, space outdoors and a real feeling of getting away from the office, all while remaining easily accessible from London.
The Solution: Red Blaze, providing unique venue sourcing and careful retreat planning sourced Tewinbury Farm and organised a three-day retreat, making arrangements for accommodation, private meeting space, group meals and activities for 25 people. The group had exclusive use of the Kingsbridge Estate, which meant that they had their own private area within the wider venue, with the accommodation being spread among Shepherds Huts, lodges and hotel rooms. This gave the team ample room in which to relax and socialise while at the same time remaining completely away from their usual working environment.
The Itinerary
On the first day the team arrived at Tewinbury Farm for a brief welcome meeting and then started the retreat with a practical session at Tewinbury’s Cookery School, where they prepared their own lunch before sitting down to eat what they had made together. After lunch, the group moved into a full afternoon meeting session before checking into their accommodation and enjoying some downtime to take in the tranquil surroundings. That evening, everyone came back together for a relaxed and informal BBQ, followed by a pub quiz.
The following day started with an optional early morning bootcamp. The professionally led session provided an energetic and inclusive start to the day without turning the experience into an intense fitness session. After a productive day of meetings, it was time to swap laptops for cocktail shakers! A private cocktail-making masterclass with a professional bartender gave the group the chance to learn how to create a selection of cocktails including a Picante, Gimlet, Mojito and Woo Woo. Non-alcoholic versions were also available, ensuring everyone could take part in the same experience. It provided exactly the kind of informal, sociable activity Koodoo had been looking for, allowing the team to unwind together before a group dinner, followed by karaoke and dancing.
Across the three days, the itinerary was deliberately designed with breathing space. Focused meeting sessions gave Koodoo the time needed to work through their internal agenda, while meals, activities and downtime created opportunities for colleagues to connect in a much more natural environment.
The result was a retreat that felt distinctly Koodoo rather than an off-the-shelf corporate programme.
